One of the latest sustainability projects by Electrolux is the ”Vac from the Sea” initiative.  The initiative consists of Electrolux unveiling five vacuum cleaners made from plastic waste collected from the world's oceans. Electrolux aims to raise public awareness of the issue by gathering plastics from marine environments from a number of sites in the world. The collected plastic is sorted, washed, processed and used to produce a limited number of concept vacuum cleaners. The ambition is also to inspire consumers and industry to increase recycling efforts.

There is a shortage of recycled plastic, the ability for Electrolux to offer its customers sustainable products and contribute to a sustainable future is somewhat dependent of access to sustainable raw materials.  Electrolux hopes that the “Vac from the sea” will push awareness and action in a direction that will decrease the pollution of land and ocean and that will further increase the access to recycled and sustainable raw material.
